What kind of preventive care do you recommend for children?
In addition to good home care that includes regular brushing and flossing, we also recommend you bring your child to the dentist at least twice each year for examinations and cleanings. If there are concerns about your child’s oral development, Dr. Amaya might recommend more frequent visits. After all, preventive care is crucial to good oral health!
What other tactics do you recommend?
In addition to regular visits to our office, we might also recommend fluoride treatment and dental sealants. Fluoride treatments are usually administered every six months at routine appointments.
Dental sealants are applied to the back molars of teeth to keep bacteria from settling into the deep grooves of teeth and becoming decay. Sealants are a long-lasting, noninvasive treatment—and much more affordable than getting a tooth filled because a cavity has developed.
Nutrition is also very important!
The importance of proper nutrition in regards to your child’s oral health should not be underestimated. Limit sugary snacks and beverages, opting instead for fruits and vegetables when your child is hungry between meals. A healthy diet is also essential for your child’s overall well-being.
